At Get Living we aim to employ whole-life impact considerations to improve the performance of our existing neighbourhoods, and to futureproof new developments.
Our approach includes driving up standards for fit-out and operations; implementing capital works to enhance efficiencies; and leveraging data to understanding and monitoring our environmental impact.
Our pathway to Net Zero is guided by CRREM aligned targets and we are actively working on automating data access through smart meters, heat networks, and IoT enabled sensors.
Investment in understanding our biodiversity value and setting plans for improvement will underpin our ambition to protect and enhance biodiversity both in our neighbourhoods and remotely.
We aim to future-proof building performance during design and construction. Our development standards emphasise a fabric-first energy hierarchy and draw from the guidance of the Low Energy Transition Initiative (LETI), emerging regulations, and professional standards.
To address the impact of construction, we incorporate Whole Life Cycle assessments in new developments and site acquisitions and strive to align with LETI standards for embodied carbon.
Once operational, we focus on optimising energy efficiency in our buildings. Where required on older assets, lighting replacement works and demand management interventions have been identified, with cross assets projects underway.
At Get Living, we are committed to creating sustainable neighbourhoods that meet the needs of today while considering the challenges of tomorrow. We aim to be a leader in sustainability for the build-to-rent sector.
In 2023, we undertook a piece of work to set out energy use and carbon emission trajectories using a tool referred to as CRREM. These pathways enable us to set science based targets for our energy use intensity, and our absolute carbon emissions overtime that will ensure we are on track to be Net Zero for emissions by 2050.
Part of this pathway work is identifying interventions needed to meet our targets and work is now rolling out across our neighbourhoods, including lighting replacement and heating efficiency works.
