Gizelle has been working at Get Living London for almost two years. Her strategic flair has allowed her to work on a variety of projects within the marketing department.
What did you do before you joined Get Living London?
I moved from agency side to client side, I used to work as a Brand Strategist and before that in advertising. Those roles handled a specific aspect of the business, but I now have a wide spectrum of projects in marketing which gives more of a holistic vision. I have touched on brand and product strategies, service messaging, media placement, branding, and advertising. It’s been a good journey so far.
What made you come and work in the property industry and how do you think your skills in your former career have helped you in this role?
What really got me into applying for my job at Get Living London is that the role felt like it was more than just property marketing. Within marketing at Get Living London, we are exposed to different types of projects. There is a strong placemaking aspect and a community & neighbourhood building component to the business, which is very different to other property businesses that might have the sole objective of getting their apartments either sold or rented out. We also work with various retailers and think of ways to promote them – because they are independent, their needs are very different from bigger brands.
There is never a dull moment! When people ask me what I do, I tend to say that I work for a company which creates neighbourhoods. I am strategy driven and at Get Living London, there are a lot of projects that have many layers to them. So, it is important to nail the core strategy before you can move on to anything else. It’s that sort of critical thinking skills and experience from previous roles that help guide my briefs to agencies, my decision-making on various project here and even my relationships with the different stakeholders.
What is the most exciting thing about working for Get Living London right now?
It is very much hands-on. You get to tackle a wide variety of different projects, something you don’t necessarily get to do in a more traditional property company. These projects range from branding for new developments to retailer promotion strategies, to events and enlivenment activities alongside working on tasks attached to the core of our business including property rentals. Each day is unique!
What advice would you give to someone who was thinking about changing industry and coming to work in property?
Within the industry, Get Living London stands for something quite revolutionary and exceptional. Our service messaging has brought novelty to the property management sector, we do not charge agency fees or tenancy deposits, as a landlord we are very flexible and you have the freedom to decorate your home as you wish. We give people more reasons to live in the homes that we provide. The breadth of projects that we have allows fresh ideas to flow and transferable skills will always be useful which is exactly what an innovative company needs in order to grow and stay innovative.
